This English learning app combines yellow characters, purple backgrounds and pink cards into a friendly language. Avatars, questions, calendars and completion pages retain it for continuity. Characters encourage; answers, progress and records need explicit expressions of their own.

## Key takeaways

- Characters change size by task, retaining room for learning content.
- Answer judgments, dates and metric units need explanations independent of expressions.

## Character size adapts to the task

The profile uses a circular avatar to identify Jacob; avatar selection enlarges a pink character, while calendars use small expressions as records. One character language changes scale across contexts without repeating a large illustration on every screen.

User avatars and guides need distinction: changing an avatar should not make a yellow explaining character appear to reset identity. JVDS prefers keeping long questions fully visible, letting expressions and poses add emotion and shrinking them when needed.

The expressive calendar has many colors but weak date orientation. Month, day and current-day summary need retention, with [gray bars, yellow and blue](https://www.jvds.cn/en/share/ui-design/semantic-color-tokens-design) meanings explained, turning abundant records into a findable day.

Personal settings | Identity, records and personalization have separate responsibilities.

## Selection and correctness need different states

A raised-hand character and progress bar sit above question, multiple answers and green Continue. Purple fill establishes selection without establishing correctness.

Unselected, selected, submitted correct and submitted wrong can be separate. Keep the original choice when judging, add correct wording and a short explanation, then allow retry or continuation. Expressions supplement rather than replace textual results.

Activity, Discipline and Energy below the calendar use different units. Minutes, focus scores and other states need definitions; similarly shaped cards do not automatically represent one ability measure.

Progress can pair question number/total with percentage, leaving accuracy in the round result so one figure does not resemble both completion and grade. Error explanations should concern this question’s word or structure while retaining prompt and choice. [Longer help can expand](https://www.jvds.cn/en/share/ui-design/progressive-disclosure-complex-product-ux); brief feedback need not require leaving the question.

Exercises | Check that selection and judgments remain distinct.

## Completion leads into the next learning session

Home, Rating and Share appear on completion, with celebratory pose and bright backgrounds marking an emotional moment. Round feedback, error review and next practice direction can supplement it, while sharing stays optional.

Login, course cards and avatar settings share a language but need task-specific explanations. Course ages, content and fee periods belong near selection; account actions should distinguish learner and manager.

Across a wide age range, check prompt language, help length and account actions separately. Brand consistency does not imply identical use across ages just because characters match.

Error review from completion can open round records question by question, showing corrected items and those still needing practice. The home calendar then records session date and content. Celebration remains while children understand how their next practice relates to this round.

Multiple states | Character language continues across stages.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does a purple answer mean correct?

Explicit status should decide. Selection, submission, correct and wrong need distinction; expressions only assist feedback.

### Does an expression-based calendar need dates?

Yes: month, day and a status legend, with access to that day’s task, make it useful for review.

## Design review checklist

- Keep long prompts visible beside characters.
- Make selection and judgment states explicit.
- Give records dates, units and explanations.

## Connect exercise feedback and learning records

Children’s learning products can organize answer states, error review and calendar lookup before establishing character and cross-age interface guidelines.
