How to make the FAQ page on a corporate website? Don't just treat common problems as SEO modules. First, solve the customer's decision-making obstacles

A good FAQ is not about "gathering 30 questions for keywords", but rather organizing the decision-making obstacles repeatedly encountered by sales, customer service and users into retrievable, understandable and continuously updated content, allowing customers to solve some of their real doubts before submitting their inquiries.

01 The most valuable source of FAQ is not SEO tools, but sales and customer service records

The most common practice for enterprises to fall into is to first use keyword tools to generate dozens of questions such as "What is" and "what are the advantages", and then write the answers uniformly. This may seem complete, but it could be completely different from what real customers care about the most.

A more reliable question database comes from sales emails, customer service records, project communications, in-site searches, product training, and user interviews. Customers repeatedly ask questions such as "Does it support overseas deployment?", "What is the minimum purchase quantity?" and "Can it be integrated with the existing system?" These are the contents that should truly be prioritized for inclusion in the FAQ.

02 Only one intention is addressed for one problem. The answer should first provide the conclusion and then add conditions

Corporate FAQs are often written like policy documents: the first paragraph is about the background, the second is about the company's advantages, and only at the end does it answer "Yes or no". When users view FAQs, they usually have clear questions in mind. Therefore, the first sentence of the answer should directly provide a judgment, and then explain the applicable conditions, exceptions, and the next steps.

If a problem needs to explain three completely different topics, break it down. Short does not mean shallow; clarity is the goal. Complex technical issues can be summarized first and then linked to the complete documentation or product page.

FAQ classification should be based on user tasks rather than visual explanations of internal departments

03 FAQ classification should be based on user tasks rather than internal departments

"Sales issues, technical issues, and business issues" are internal classifications within an enterprise, but users may not know which department their problem belongs to. A more natural approach might be "purchase and quotation, product capabilities, deployment and integration, after-sales and support, accounts and privacy".

When there are many questions, you can add search and folding, but do not default to folding all answers to the point where they cannot be scanned. The title itself should be specific enough to enable users to quickly determine whether it is relevant without further elaboration.

04 Not all FAQs should be concentrated on a separate page

The independent FAQ center is suitable for handling global issues such as payment, after-sales service, accounts, and delivery. However, product-related issues are best presented simultaneously near the corresponding product page. When a user is judging a certain product, they should not be forced to leave the page and search again in the FAQ of the entire site.

Therefore, a more mature strategy is "centralized management + scenario-based presentation": the same set of Q&A content can be uniformly maintained by the CMS and then called up based on the product, industry, and page context.

05 Google's FAQ rich media display is no longer a universal benefit for most enterprise websites

In the past, many SEO tutorials regarded FAQPage structured data as a technique to "occupy more search result area". Google's current documentation has mainly restricted the display qualifications of FAQ rich media results to well-known and authoritative government and health websites. Ordinary commercial enterprise websites should not continue to be regarded as a universally accessible display form.

This does not mean that FAQs have no SEO value. High-quality Q&A can still cover real search questions, enhance the integrity of page information and internal links, but do not promise that "adding a Schema will definitely result in folded Q&A".

Problems should not be batch-generated into highly repetitive visual explanations of each other

06 Do not batch generate questions that are highly repetitive of each other

What are the advantages of Product A? What are the features of Product A? "Why choose Product A?" If the answers are basically the same, these are not three valuable questions but rather variations of key words. Repeating questions and answers will make the page longer, but it won't provide users with more information.

Each additional question should be able to explain a new decision point. For sensitive questions without actual answers, such as the price being entirely dependent on the project, it is also advisable to honestly explain the factors influencing the quotation instead of evading it with a marketing pitch.

07 FAQs should have a responsible person and an update time; otherwise, they will quickly become a source of error information

Product capabilities, policies, prices and service scopes may change. If there is no content manager for the FAQ, the answers that have become invalid are often retained several years later.

Quarterly or semi-annual reviews can be established: remove questions that no one asks anymore, merge duplicates, and add newly emerged sales issues. For time-sensitive information involving regulations, privacy, technical versions, etc., the responsibility for review should be marked even more.

Whether the FAQ is effective can be judged by the "quality of consultation" rather than just the visual description of page views

08 Whether the FAQ is effective can be judged by the "consultation quality" rather than just the page views

If the FAQ truly addresses the fundamental issues, the inquiries received by sales should focus more on specific needs rather than repeatedly answering questions like "Which formats are supported?" and "Can it be customized?" This is a very practical value.

Therefore, in addition to checking the FAQ, clicking and searching, you can also ask the sales team to provide feedback on which issues have decreased and which ones still recur. Once the content and business form a closed loop, the FAQ will transform from an SEO attachment into a customer decision-making tool.

09 Write the questions in sentences that users would ask instead of "Function Description 01"

"Is private deployment supported?" " It is more like real search and consultation language than "deployment method instructions" and is also easier to scan quickly. The title should contain the question itself rather than requiring users to first understand the content classification of the enterprise.

If conditions are required in the answer, such as "Only supported by the enterprise version", state them in the first sentence, and then explain the environment, cost and activation process. Only in this way can the FAQ truly reduce the number of communication rounds.

10 The FAQ page also needs to handle the next step for "no answer found"

Even if the problem database is complete, there will always be people encountering new scenarios. At the bottom of the page, you can provide site search, contact support, submit questions or view the help center instead of ending directly after the last Accordion.

If a large number of users search for a certain word in the FAQ but get no results, this in itself is a signal of new content being added. Incorporating failed search terms into the monthly content review can enable the FAQ to grow along with the business.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many questions should be placed on the FAQ page?

There is no fixed quantity. Give priority to covering high-frequency, important issues that can affect decision-making. It is better to have 15 real problems than 80 variant keywords.

Do all the answers have to be very short?

No need. For simple questions, answer directly. For complex questions, provide summaries and links to detailed documents.

Can a regular enterprise's corporate website still obtain rich media FAQ results by adding a FAQ page Schema?

Google currently mainly limits the display of such rich media to authoritative government and health websites. Ordinary commercial websites should not take it as an expected result.

Should all FAQs be folded by default?

When there are few questions, they can be directly expanded. When there are many questions, it can be folded, but the title should be clear enough and ensure that it is operable on the keyboard and screen reader.

Where is the most reliable way to collect questions?

Prioritize sales, customer service, site search, consultation forms and communication with real users, and then supplement with search keywords.
