Nearly a decade after completing East London's “Alphabet Street” project, British artist Ben Eine once again painted all 26 letters from A to Z across more than 40 store shutters. “Alphabet City 2.0” uses 26 custom typefaces and a broad range of spray-paint colors to turn the area into a vibrant street-art destination.
“Alphabet Street” was created in partnership with Global Street Art and the Poplar Housing and Regeneration Community Association (HARCA), showcasing the evolution of Eine's style over the past 30 years. Bold letters appear on metal shutters with deep shadows and layered graphic elements. Each character has its own personality and dimension, allowing it to stand alone while remaining part of the larger collection.
Eine and his team bring this typographic exploration to clients through their new creative agency. “Alphabet Street” also marks the launch of Eine's new creative design studio, Our Types. He said in a statement: “Our minds are always busy; even when we sleep, they do not rest.” The mind is the only real tool we have for shaping the world.
